Development and realization of an automatic dashboards assembly system.
For the automatic assembly of dashboards, IBG has implemented a system that automates the assembly, positioning, and inspection of the dashboard position in relation to the body by a robot in several steps.
As part of the first step, the robot uses a camera system to measure the position of the fixed points of the dashboard in order to grip it. In the next step, a 3D camera system measures the bolted points in the body. The robot then moves into the vehicle with the dashboard to be installed based on the measured data.
As soon as the robot is in the vehicle, a guide device is automatically placed in order to move the steering shaft without collision through the bulkhead into the engine compartment. The dashboard is then automatically moved into its final position.
After positioning the dashboard, it is bolted with four integrated screw units and aligned transversely to the direction of travel before the final tightening with the aid of measuring probes.
A decisive advantage of this system realized by IBG is its high durability due to the CFRP grippers with attached aluminum components. Furthermore, the integrated camera system offers an independent evaluation and corresponding implementation by the robot.
