World’s first automatic circlip assembly system

Automated assembly for circlips presents a challenge to technical systems in many ways. Due to the different circlip diameters and the constantly varying position of the hole pattern, a reliable automatic assembly was previously not possible.

Thanks to the system developed by IBG, it is now possible to assemble circlips with different geometries process-reliable and precisely robot-controlled. The system offers numerous advantages for automated production:

  • Identification of the hole pattern by a camera system
  • Intelligent gripping by an adaptive gripper and servomotor-driven widening of the circlips
  • Controlled relaxation and sliding off of the circlips with position monitoring
  • Designed for internal and external circlips

The developed assembly system consequently increases the manufactured quality and the ergonomics during the production process to the same extent.
