Conexing

Tool for interdisciplinary planning and product-related virtual optimization of automated production systems

The design of products is often strongly customer-oriented and individual especially in small and medium-sized enterprises. This refers both to products for end customers and to the significant role as a supplier especially with regard to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Shorter product life cycles and an ever-increasing variety of variants are constantly increasing the requirements and the need for innovative planning and simulation systems in order to make the products available to the market in a timely and efficient manner.

The functional design of the production facilities and their time and cost-optimal realization are only possible by supporting and bringing together all those involved in the entire product development and production process. The currently available simulation and programming systems usually only consider a part of the overall process, moreover, the consistency of the data is missing. On the one hand, the systems used are often too complex, on the other hand they do not cover the full path to complete virtual commissioning. The time-consuming yet error-prone data conversion and system switching steps therefore limit the usefulness of the available systems.

The aim of the project is to bring together all the experts involved in the overall process in an interdisciplinary and spanning the whole company from the conception phase to the virtual production review in a common working environment, the conexing solution. This tool must offer a new form of cooperation in terms of adaptability to future product and production scenarios and also create new opportunities in terms of usability and knowledge sharing.
