Acting instead of reacting. This is the challenge we face again and again in Industry 4.0. Service and predictive maintenance are key issues that are becoming increasingly important. When optimizing the actual manufacturing processes within a production plant, it is now essential to proactively monitor and control the systems and components used. Great benefits of predictive maintenance are:

  • To recognize expensive repairs or serious failures in time and to initiate appropriate activities to prevent major damage.
  • Transparency and fast data transfer reduce response times in the event of a fault.
  • To optimally plan production downtimes through transparency and to make meaningful use for maintenance work.
  • Analyze plant and machine data to allow longer runtimes.

How Predictive Maintenance 4.0 is realized by IBG was illustrated by a highly flexible and automated assembly cell in the special show of the Hannover Messe 2016.


Industry 4.0 using the example of a flexible assembly cell

Within the flexible production and assembly cell presented by IBG, it is demonstrated how various complex components are fully deburred and welded. The entire system is managed by an Android app. This allows system functions to be controlled and parameters to be set. Thus, the app offers on the one hand the possibility during maintenance or conversion processes to identify plant parts by means of NFC / RFID or DMC codes and to retrieve information. In addition, proactive information about malfunctions and / or maintenance information can be sent via e-mail or SMS. Also integrated is a CSC module (Cyber ​​System Connector), which connects the plant control system with a fully digital, virtual plant documentation. As a result, the user can derive situation-specific and needs-based documentation information and thus guarantee permanent up-to-dateness.
